Your data
Delete your account
Deleting your Jiak Simi account is immediate and permanent. Your saved places, ratings and taste profile are erased straight away and cannot be restored — not by you, and not by us. If you only want to stop notifications, or step away for a while, you can sign out instead, or turn notifications off under Settings → Notifications.
1. Delete it yourself, in the app
This is the fastest way and it takes under a minute. Open Jiak Simi and:
- Tap Profile in the bottom bar.
- Tap the settings icon in the top right.
- Tap Privacy & data.
- Tap Delete my account.
- Read what will be removed, type DELETE to confirm, then tap Delete forever.
Your account is gone the moment you confirm. You do not need to contact us, and there is no waiting period.
2. If you no longer have the app
You do not need to reinstall Jiak Simi to delete your account. Email us instead:
Please send it from the email address on the account, with the subject Delete my account. That address is how we confirm the request is really yours — we will not delete an account on the word of a different address, because doing so would let anyone erase someone else’s data.
We will delete the account and confirm by reply, normally within a few days and in any case within 30 days of your request.
3. What gets deleted
Everything attached to your account, including:
- your account and sign-in details, including your email address;
- your Palate Compass — your taste profile, archetype and its history;
- every place you saved, rated or hid, and the notes and dishes you recorded against them;
- your Jiak Lists, including any cover photos you uploaded, and any lists you shared by link, which stop working;
- your saved Home and Work locations;
- your dietary preferences and any allergies you told us about;
- your notification settings and the token used to send you notifications;
- your activity history — what the app showed you and what you tapped — which is what personalises your recommendations;
- any feedback you sent us that was not submitted anonymously.
None of this is archived, exported or held in a “deleted” state. It is removed.
4. What we keep, and why
Two things survive, and neither can be traced back to you once your account is gone:
- Anonymous feedback. If you used the “send anonymously” option when sending feedback, that message was never linked to your account in the first place. There is no connection to sever, and so nothing for us to find and delete.
- Records of what running the app cost us. We log what it costs us to tag a restaurant and to look up a restaurant photo, so we can keep the app affordable. When you delete your account, your identity is stripped from those records and only the cost remains. They contain nothing about you, your taste or your visits.
The restaurant information in the app — names, flavour tags, dishes — is not personal data and is shared by everyone using Jiak Simi. It stays.
5. How long until it is really gone
Your data is removed from our live systems immediately. Residual copies inside our encrypted database backups are overwritten on the normal cycle and are gone within 30 days. We cannot read those backups to retrieve your account in the meantime, and we do not restore deleted accounts from them.
