Terms of Use

1. Agreement to these Terms

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) are a legal agreement between you and the individual based in Singapore who operates Jiak Simi (“Jiak Simi”, “we”, “us”, “our”), governing your use of the Jiak Simi mobile application (the “App”) and the website at jiaksimi.ai (the “Site”).

By downloading, accessing, or using the App, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

2. Who can use Jiak Simi

You must be at least 13 years old to use the App. By using it, you confirm that you meet this age requirement and that the information you give us is accurate.

3. What Jiak Simi does

Jiak Simi helps you discover places to eat in Singapore by building a personal taste profile (your “Palate Compass”) from a short quiz and the places you rate, then recommending restaurants that match it.

Recommendations are suggestions, not guarantees. Restaurant information — including taste tags, prices, opening status, dietary suitability, and locations — comes from a mix of third-party sources (such as Google) and automated AI tagging, and may be incomplete, out of date, or inaccurate.

You are responsible for your own dietary and safety decisions. Always check directly with a restaurant about ingredients, allergens, halal certification, or anything that affects your health or religious requirements. Do not rely on the App for these.

4. This is a beta release

You are using a pre-release (beta) version of Jiak Simi, provided for testing through Apple TestFlight. The App may contain bugs, may change or stop working, and its features and data may be reset during testing. We provide the beta “as is” for evaluation, and we welcome your feedback. Any feedback you send us may be used to improve the App without obligation to you.

5. Your account

You are responsible for keeping your account secure and for activity that happens under it. Tell us promptly (see Section 15) if you think your account has been compromised. You may delete your account at any time — see Section 10.

6. Subscriptions and payments

Jiak Simi is free to use. At public launch we intend to offer an optional paid subscription (“Jiak Simi Plus”) that unlocks premium features such as unlimited personalised discovery and “why we picked this” insights.

During this beta (TestFlight) period, the App is provided free of charge and you will not be charged. Any in-app purchase shown during testing operates in Apple’s test (“sandbox”) environment and does not result in a real payment.

When paid subscriptions go live, the following terms will apply:

• Current prices will be shown in the App before you purchase, and may vary by region and over time.
• Subscriptions are sold and billed through the Apple App Store (and, on Android, Google Play), not directly by us.
• Subscriptions renew automatically at the then-current price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and you are charged within 24 hours before the period ends.
• You manage and cancel your subscription in your Apple or Google account settings, not in the App. Deleting the App does not cancel a subscription.
• If a price increases, the store will notify you and seek your consent as required before the next renewal.
• Refunds are handled under Apple’s or Google’s policies, and requests must generally be made to Apple or Google directly.

7. Acceptable use

When using Jiak Simi, you agree not to:

• break any law, or use the App for any unlawful or harmful purpose;
• copy, scrape, harvest, or extract our restaurant data, taste tags, or recommendations in bulk, or use them to build or train a competing product or dataset;
• reverse-engineer, tamper with, overload, or try to gain unauthorised access to the App or its systems;
• upload or share, including in a shared list or any text you submit, content that is unlawful, infringing, offensive, or that impersonates another person;
• misrepresent your identity or your affiliation with any restaurant or business.

We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms.

8. Shared lists and content you submit

If you publish a Jiak List to a shareable link, you understand that anyone with the link can view it. You’re responsible for what you choose to share. You grant us the limited right to host and display that content so the sharing feature works. You can stop sharing a list at any time by un-publishing or deleting it.

9. Intellectual property

The App, the Site, the Jiak Simi name and branding, the Palate Compass model, the archetype characters, the taste tags and recommendation content, and all related software and design are owned by us (or our licensors) and protected by intellectual property laws. We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the App for your own personal, non-commercial use, subject to these Terms. You get no other rights.

Restaurant data and map content provided by third parties (such as Google) remains subject to those third parties’ terms.

10. Account deletion and termination

You can delete your account at any time in Settings → Delete Account. Deletion is immediate and permanent — your data is removed and cannot be recovered, and any saved lists are lost.

We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the App or this beta. If we discontinue the App entirely, we’ll give reasonable notice where we can.

11. Disclaimers

The App is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or that recommendations, restaurant information, prices, dietary tags, or availability will be accurate or suitable for your needs.

You use recommendations at your own discretion and remain responsible for your own choices — including, again, anything affecting your health, allergies, or religious dietary requirements.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by Singapore law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential loss, or for loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of (or inability to use) the App. Our total liability to you for any claim relating to the App will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or S$100.

Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under Singapore law.

13. Third-party services

The App relies on and links to third-party services (Apple, Google, and our hosting and AI providers). We’re not responsible for those services, and your use of them is governed by their own terms and privacy policies.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If a change is material, we’ll notify you in the App or by email before it takes effect. Continuing to use the App after a change means you accept the updated Terms. The “Last updated” date shows the current version.

15. Governing law and contact

These Terms are governed by the laws of Singapore, and you agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Singapore courts.

16. Apple- and Google-specific terms

If you downloaded the App from the Apple App Store or installed it via TestFlight, you acknowledge that these Terms are between you and us only, not Apple; that Apple has no obligation to provide support or to handle any claims relating to the App; and that Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these Terms and may enforce them. Your use of TestFlight is also subject to Apple’s TestFlight Terms and Conditions, and your use of the App must comply with the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions / App Store Terms of Service.

If you downloaded the App from Google Play, your use is also subject to the Google Play Terms of Service.
